Re: Mount NTFS external drive onto CentOS 7 server failing

The only kernel supported is the one we ship. Enhancements and security fixes are backported to it by Redhat so do not believe the version number - parts of the wireless stack are already from the 4.x kernels for example. https://access.redhat.com/security/updates/backporting/ Ah, excellent point, ...

Re: Mount NTFS external drive onto CentOS 7 server failing

You need to yum install epel-release then yum install ntfs-3g Hey, thanks. I was sort of forced to use CentOS, but now I am really liking it. Would it be a good idea to upgrade the kernel? It seems like CentOS keeps old kernels a lot longer than other distros. I suppose this adds alot to stability ...

Re: Mount NTFS external drive onto CentOS 7 server failing

Newbie to CentOS. Flailing around :( I can't seem to find a package to let CentOS7 look at all my NTFS stuff. googling seems to indicate this shouldn't be a problem. Help? Re: packages

Thank you very much for the replies. Thinking about it, I realize that CentOS is actually an "enterprise" linux - so CentOS7x is maybe not the best distro for the command-line-challenged ("Thou Shalt Know vi" - but I don't...) folks like me (I'm from the Lindows generation). I sh...

packages

Dear CentOS users: I've been googling for an hour and can't figure out how to add repos (we have our own internal repo mirrors), where the graphical repo/software manager is, or even how to use sudo (I'm apparently "not in the sudoers file"). I have 7.1 installed on in virtualbox running u...

Opteron Full Load Turbo

I would also be very interested in a workable solution to this. I am considering switching to CentOS7 for me 6386SE's+SuperMicroMOBO - the Opteron's Full Load Turbo mode is definitely worth obtaining!! I would note that SuperMicro Tech Support lists support for CentOS6 and higher (I forget which dot...

Newbie here

So, I've been using Linux/KDE for more than a decade and once upon a time tried CentOS but couldn't get it to install... I'm installing CentOS 7 on a thumb drive right now and it seems to have really gotten easier to use. I also noticed that it is very good with hardware, including video cards and d...

Could not recover username

The site claims my email address is in use, so I have registered before, but since I don't remember my username, I can't recover my password. There's no mechanism for getting past this, so I had to re-register with another email address...
