Re: 4K display scaling?

There is a RH bugzilla that talks about an update to gnome 3.14 in the 7.2 time period but I have no idea if this will happen on time (if at all). Thank you for the advice! I'll obviously keep an eye out for this kind of updates. I think a GNOME update should happen at some point -or they will add ...

Re: 4K display scaling?

I'm afraid it's a GUI problem: it needs to support high density displays. Gnome does that form version 3.10, and achieves decency in doing it from 3.12... Anyway: a proper driver is necessary for the system to utilize correctly the display, even if the GUI does support high density scaling. I'm afra...

Re: 4K display scaling?

If you run the live disk then you're almost certainly using the opensource drivers for whatever video card is in that machine. Yup. Actually the live image uses the Intel chip instead of the Nvidia card -which is not a bad thing after all: newer Nvidia cards are a pain to run with nouveau. I suspec...

4K display scaling?

Hello everybody, I recently acquired a mobile workstation which is equipped with a UHD 4K diplay, but in the usual 15.6" format. This mean that it would be very handy for the OS's GUI to scale up, instead of interpreting the display like a vast screen. I tried to run CentOS 7 as a live disk and the ...

Re: ntfs-3g broken?

I got 2:2014.2.15-6.el6 from EPEL today. Yes, same here (sorry, I shortened it a bit...) For the moment, I told yum exclude the package from the EPEL repository. but just a note about package availability: you can always find previous builds of EPEL packages from Koji , there's no need to mirror ol...

Re: ntfs-3g broken?

Ok, ntfs-3g is broken, at least in its latest version: 2014.2.14 If you have important data (for whatever reason) on NTFS partitions, don't update for now -or get rid of the NTFS filesystem. Until a couple of days ago, on EPEL was availabel the version number 2011.4.12, which does work. Probably, la...

ntfs-3g broken?

Hello, I'm unable to get ntfs-3g to work since some hours (at least). I had it installed since a month and never had any problem with it: the integration was perfect and so was the functionality. I noticed, one hour ago, that the system wasn't able to mount a NTFS hard drive I use for general storag...

Re: How old are you? How long have you used CentOS?

25. I wanted a Linux-based OS since I was 12 (when I first got myself into C/C++) and finally succeeded with CentOS a couple of weeks ago. Since the first run of the OS, it spread like wildfire to all of my machines -and, most importantly, the big ol' beast I assembled myself and I use to work/free ...

Hello World!

This is actually a big moment for me: CentOS is the first ever Linux-based OS that manages to work properly on one of my machines. More than that: it's now running on my laptop (CentOS 7), my netbook and the workstation I assembled myself (CentOS 6.5) -form where I'm now writing. I'm really looking ...
