Yes, according to the docs it's replaced by NetworkManager, and for scottro's benefit I can confirm that it appears to handle static IPv4 assignments reasonably well for wired connections (I believe this was a problem in the past).
Anaconda (the installer) now uses NetworkManager for network interface configuration which means it is now using the standard ifcfg files in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts.

I came across this reference two-thirds of the way down the page at http://www.mail-archive.com/epel-devel-list@redhat.com/msg03255.html
"In addition, there are some packages which were present in RHEL 5, but
are absent in RHEL 6. Most of these packages are accounted for because
of the dropping of gtk+ support, updating of configuration tools,
standardization on hunspell, move from scim to ibus, or the move to
KDE4. Some are just obsolete, and others were removed for space
concerns. Some of them might be interesting for EPEL"
SquirrelMail is in the list. That implies that unless EPEL picks it up, SquirrelMail will no longer be included in RHEL. And they wonder why people are changing to Ubuntu server!

In that case SquirrelMail will be in one of the 3rd party repos for sure, and the advantage to that is that it's more likely to be kept up to date there rather than remain at a frozen version-release in RHEL/CentOS :-)

Excellent point. Maybe it's a blessing not a curse. Afterall, we're stuck on 1.4.8 in RHEL 5. ;)
I filed a bug report for good measure, if only to keep them on their toes. ;)

Maybe go hound the folks over at EPEL too.

Well, filing a bug report was so worth it...not!
"This feature request did not get resolved in time for Feature Freeze for the current Red Hat Enterprise Linux release and has now been denied."

This gets curious. I see entries like 'nss_ldap', 'ipsec-tools' and 'aspell'.
Granted, I have not used ipsec-tools for years, but I thought that I am using
nss_ldap. I have obviously lost track of what will replace them. Time to
excavate old discussions?
But aspell ... I see no \*hunspell\* in Centos5-Base, or even in EPEL.
That seems drastic.

Re: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Beta Available Today for Public Download
Yes, they seem to be making some unusual decisions and deviating significantly from Fedora.
What I find amusing is that a server package like SquirrelMail has been dropped from RHEL but they continue to include it in Fedora (including F13), which is generally considered both a desktop distro and a testbed for RHEL, not a server distro itself!

Re: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Beta Available Today for Public Download
Many people were expecting RHEL 6 to be based solely on Fedora 12, but many of the packages in RHEL 6 beta are newer than those in F12 (kernel, apache, dovecot, PHP, mysql, the gimp), which is a pleasant surprise.
Some of the packages are also older than the latest F12 updates. This has always been the case, all the way back to RHEL/CentOS 3 / RH9. In general, as time goes on, due to the prolonged support cycle of RHEL/CentOS compared to the Fedora base, eventually the RHEL packages end up being newer than what is available for the distribution release it is forked from.
