Re: CentOS 6.2 Release?
Thank you for your generosity but I must clarify one point.
The flag of Her Britannic Majesty's United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the Union Flag. It is an oft made mistake to refer to it as the Union Jack. :-(
The Union Flag can appear as a jack when the suitably small sized version of the flag is flown from the jack staff of a Naval Vessel! ;-)

Re: CentOS 6.2 Release?
I stand corrected, as I can no longer sit. :-)

Unfortunately, by that time, the response from many people might well be "What is CentOS?" or 'I think I read about that in the "History of Linux" opening chapter of one of my technical books' (Oh yeah, that's right, books will be replaced by tablets by then as well !).
It took a lot to resist the temptation to start a new "CentOS 6.3 Release?" thread.
Looks like the developers had a trick up their sleeve. So CentOS 6.2 is out as quickly as Oracle 6.2. Pretty impressive. It will be so nice to be able to concentrate on messages about CentOS rather than those complaining about its release date. And it will be nice that the developers will get a little rest after what, a solid year and half of work?
Here's a news story I found on the soon-to-be release of CentOS 6.2. Just ten days after 6.1. Amazing. Thanks to everyone.

The results given by google disagree with your clarification,
but that is surely a flaw of the engine.
More on topic: we had an electricity maintenance break yesterday --
a perfect opportunity to reboot systems to updated kernel. Normally
that would be insignificant, but so close to getting a kernel to update
it causes discomforting "almost there" feeling. Oh well, in this case
a miss by days is better than one by months.

Re: CentOS 6.2 Release?
Great work! I almost thought the CentOS project was gone and today version 6.2 comes out sooner then Scientific Linux.
Re: CentOS 6.2 Release?
The question is now: How did they do this so fast? :-D

Maybe the defectors to Scientific Linux scared the developers a bit. I had to check my calendar to make sure that I wasn't transported in time back to April 1st ! Hopefully this isn't a fluke. All kidding aside, thanks to the developers for supplying this to us.

You're not going to get much faster than two weeks. The developers must have been perfecting the automation scripts with 6.1. Not only did the release date beat Scientific Linux, but it matched Oracle.
Congratulations to the developers! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays. And try to get in some relaxation time.
