Hi
I have looked at most of the posting howto's but haven't seen anything that shows the correct way to use
code
/code
or .
Quote
or
adding a hyperlinked text to a posting
I've seen remarks in several postings that have helped me but none of the wiki or remarks the FAQ & Readme First cover these.
If this is already covered please tell me where or if its so basic I should know... I apologise.
Thanks
Jim

You just use
[code]
code-like stuff
[/code]
and
[quote]
Stuff you quoted from a previous post
[/quote]

Trevor
Thanks for the response.
Is there a difference between the way quote and code handle line wrap?
And how do you get "a href" to work?
Thanks
Jim

Yes, there's a difference in the way that quote and code handle line wrap. Next you're going to ask me what the difference is and I don't know :-)
You don't use href as such, you use [url=http://this.that/here]your link text[/url]

A page to explain all this might be useful, but nobody has created one. Perhaps it should be added to [url=http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=28726&forum=54]Readme First[/url].
See [url=https://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=34983&forum=14&post_id=150945#forumpost150945]this badly named thread[/url] for some related discussion and recommendations for tools.

Yes its truly a "badly named thread" I noticed it earlier but since I had last been reading about rpm info mod_, formating was the last thing that came to mind.
I am trying the line below I found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBCode
[url=http://example.com]Example[/url]
and it worked, Yeah.
Phil
On one of my earlier posts you changed a block I marked as "code" to "quote" to fix a mangle the "code" was doing by shifting the page to the right.
What exactly did the "quote" do?
Thanks
Jiim

Text in a [i][u]quote[/u][/i] segment will be wrapped, and leading whitespace or other formatting ignored, similar to the way normal text. is treated.
I did add a section on formatting to [url=http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=28726&forum=54]Readme First[/url]. I was tempted to link to the text formatting toolbar but decided not to add the additional complexity of explaining it there.
