What program do you use for backups? How often?

Post by altiris » 2014/08/08 05:45:21

I am a hobbyist CentOS user, I set up CentOS for fun. I've been interested in backups/backup programs lately and just want to have a discussion with you guys about this topic.

I use Bacula, it's the only backup program I have tried and it works pretty well. I backup a few minecraft worlds daily at around 2 in the morning (incremental backup) and I also do a backup of the entire root drive (incremental as well) every Sunday at 1 am (well Monday really heh). What about you? And should I be doing differential backups? I don't really see the point in them but maybe you guys can give some good examples!

I use clonezilla.
Every 2-3 weeks.

edit:
Since I moved my systems to CentOS7 from Arch, Fedora, I don't really have the need to back up as much as I did previously.
My "OS" life has been very peaceful for the last 1 month.

Hi!

I am using Backintime- http://backintime.le-web.org/ - it does a backup of my home directory to my NAS on every (re)boot.

Cheers
