How old are you? How long have you used CentOS?
Re: How old are you? How long have you used CentOS?
57, ex-2nd-gen IBM'er Always more of a HW guy, used to scavenge working vacuum tubes from junk pickup day to fix old radios when I was like ten...
One day in '82 I was working in VM on my green-screen CRT when a guy came and plopped a tan box with two 360k floppy drives on my desk. Then I got copies of Peachtree and Lotus 1-2-3...
I think I first heard the word 'Linux' around 1992 or so. Towards the end I had a sweet Lenovo W-530 with full blown RHEL and a Windows VM integrated just enough drive me nuts every couple of weeks. I've managed to stuff most of that into an old T-410 personal box running Centos, but the bitch just blew up on me this week when I tried to update to Centos 7.4 and ended up with hundreds of duplicate files for both 7.3 and 7.4 in the same instance. Lather-Rinse-Repeat

Re: How old are you? How long have you used CentOS?
I wound up as a mainframe dinosaur with multiple drug addictions to juggle with limited interest in computers as i worked with binary and assembler - a systems guy.
Then a friend asked me to build a drug forum and i had already played with freebsd and took an interest in linux - a command line, speed and free !
I had a few computers - maybe 10 crappy ones.
So i asked a mate for some hardware that i could build a website on and he gave me a VPS with CentOS on it.
He didn't want anything to do with my drug site so i had to do everything.
40 months later i am a Linux engineer and the drug harm reduction site just runs itself.
If it werent for people like Trevor, i wouldn't have made as much progress but i love CentOS.
I am 55 but programming takes me ages.
So CentOS, my passion for free speech, humane drug laws and open source software gave me a new lease on life.
I am the DBA, the Sysadmin; the Network guy and the user

Re: How old are you? How long have you used CentOS?
I'm too old at 40 years and feel like I'm 80 years old with the stress.
I have been using CentOS 7 on multiple servers for 2 years but only the last 6 months or so am I fully responsible for the servers.

Hi. I'm 35, I'm using Linux for the last 15 years, and CentOS 7 for the last year only. I use CentOS on my Servers and Desktops too. I have been using Ubuntu, openSUSE, Debian, Fedora, and now CentOS. In this order . I am an architect and urban planner, with special interest in Linux system administration and programming.

That reminds me:
"Over 40" should go all the way up to 110 (in decades) as my mom is 93 and uses Android.

Re: How old are you? How long have you used CentOS?
I am 61. Been playing around with Linux (Ubuntu, and CentOS) for about 10 years. I only use Linux for web, and file servers.
Re: How old are you? How long have you used CentOS?
42. I have been using CentOS since a couple of weeks.
Started with RH 4? 5? in 1999, went of to Debian and *BSD in 2000. Lots of distributions have come and go through the years with me.
I used CentOS/RHEL shortly in the past for a customer or two. All installations back then had SELinux turned off
