Hi,
I have, with a lot of help from this forum, installed a CentOS6.4 server onto my network to host Squid and Squidanalyzer and it works a treat.
After getting another pointless in house email which just cause more bloat on my email system, I had an idea today that I want an inhouse chat service and I wanted to know if there is anything available that will I can install on my CentOS server so that it can host the said service.
I have the processing capabilities available to me on the server so I am not worried about that.
Any help/advice gratefully received.
Thanks,

Re: CentOS hosted Chat service
pircd ( written in perl ) is quite simple to setup. I don't know of an rpm for it though.

OpenFire beyond a doubt. It's XMPP protocol, same as Google Chat.

Pidgin client works fine. I've been running it on an RHEL5 VPS for years with great success. Before that I put one in for corporate use.

And why not jabberd / ejabberd? They are in EPEL repo.
