Hi!
I've subscribed to this forum for some time since I had a problem with my running PHP version and I intended to open a new thread but I have postponed it, only thing now I don't know what I have to do in order to gain thread privileges and I cannot either ask administrators via PM as I cannot send PMs.
Is there a minimum of posts or introducing myself here is enough?
Thanks
Gianni

Welcome to the CentOS forums. You should be able to post. The first few posts from a new user may need approval by a moderator.

Re: Hi everyone!
OK, thank you!
I think I would start a new thread in the Centos 4 software support section, but since I'm still a new user and incidentally I've seen other Centos related threads open in this very section I think I may open it here, then some mods may move it eventually to the most proper forum.

Re: Hi everyone!
CentOS 4 is more than two years out of support.
You should have updated to Version 5 or 6 years ago.

Re: Hi everyone!
Essentially I just need a light environment in order to have a virtual server, I was advised to try out Centos 4 mnimal install as guest on VirtualBox on a Windows 8 host.gerald_clark wrote:CentOS 4 is more than two years out of support.

Besides, since I have to follow an old tutorial - in fact my problem is that my PHP version is too new and deprecates some syntax forms causing incompatibility issues - old versions are more suitable to my specific needs.
