Things that make you go hmmmm ... include the sudden flood of users that sign up on the forum for the apparent sole reason of PMing someone.

Please note that people (including me) are usually unwilling to offer support via private messages. If you need support, write a public message on the forum.

Just shutdown the PM feature of PHPBB, there's no need for it here on this forum. The rash of new users wanting it for "just pm'ing" is probably their way of bypassing whatever filter their work/school has on their normal messaging sites (i.e. facebook, twitter, etc is banned/blocked but CentOS forum is not).

It should be made plain that we consider that all PM messages are open to inspection by moderators or admins of this site at any time. We will not tolerate any activities that are even slightly "grey" in nature and any users indulging in such activities will be removed from the site and all information about them (ip addresses, usernames, email addresses and contents of posts if necessary) will be made available to the responsible authorities if required.

Having investigated all these strange posts, the moderators have decided that they have no place in this forum and all those users and their posts and their private messages have been deleted. For those registering just in order to send a PM to that same user, it should be noted that the user in question registered on these forums on 2014/04/11 so has nothing to do with the matter that you were trying to contact them about: you've been spoofed. Any similar PM's in the future will be treated in a similar manner. The forums are provided for discussion of the CentOS Linux distribution.

It's because, until recently, we had several FAQ & Readme First forums, one for each version of CentOS but the content of each of them was more or less identical. When CentOS 7 was released, we moved the CentOS 6 FAQ & Readme First forum to the general section and made all the others invisible. The link you really want is viewforum.php?f=12
