My curl command was wrong just now (which I think I copied from further up in the thread). What you need to look at is

Code: Select all

wget 'http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=x86_64&repo=os'
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

I cannot use wget because it is not installed.

Here is copy of my CentOS base repo file: CentOS-Base.repo

Code: Select all

# CentOS-Base.repo

# The mirror system uses the connecting IP address of the client and the
# update status of each mirror to pick mirrors that are updated to and
# geographically close to the client. You should use this for CentOS updates

# If the mirrorlist= does not work for you, as a fall back you can try the
# remarked out baseurl= line instead.

Next, as root user, run: yum clean all
then run: yum update

I don't think you need to touch your CentOS-Base.repo or the key file.

Looks like the IPv6 mirrorlist server is having slight problems at the moment. The problem is indeed exactly as you described -- the mirrorlist server outputs nothing when accessed over IPv6.

You can compare the output of the following two commands. The first is likely to output a list of mirrors, whereas the second probably outputs nothing.

Code: Select all

curl -4 'http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=x86_64&repo=os'
curl -6 'http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=x86_64&repo=os'

The IPv6 mirrorlist server has now been fixed. Try running "yum update" again.

The two curl commands give me the following answers:
# curl -6 'http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6 ... 64&repo=os'
curl: (7) Failed to connect to 2a02:2498:1:3d:5054:ff:fed3:e91a: Network is unreachable
Yum still gives same problem:
# yum update
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
YumRepo Error: All mirror URLs are not using ftp, http or file.
Eg. </html>/
removing mirrorlist with no valid mirrors: /var/cache/yum/x86_64/6/base/mirrorlist.txt
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base

Try

Code: Select all

curl -4v 'http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6&arch=x86_64&repo=os'
to see some more details about the connection.
