Downloaded the i386 DVD ISO but attempts on three different computers to burn to either DVD+R or DVD-R failed.
Ended up mounting ISO image on Linux box, copying contents to a Linux formatted USB drive (HPFS failed to find install.img), booted from bootnet.iso CD but install failed looking for the ISO. I copied the ISO to root of USB disk leaving full contents from earlier copy there as well, ran the install and this time it ran successfully.
Not enough room for i386-DVD.iso on DVD+R or DVD-R
Re: Not enough room for i386-DVD.iso on DVD+R or DVD-R
Hi!
I downloaded and burned successfully the i386 DVD image and installed a system from it, which size (exact size, in bytes) is the file you downloaded? and which is its MD5sum?
Regards.

Re: Not enough room for i386-DVD.iso on DVD+R or DVD-R
The failure of DVD+R is to be expected, as documented in the release notes. DVD-R or dual-layer should work. This is the first report I have seen of a DVD-R burn problem. As well as the information requested by skolnick please tell us what software you used for the attempted burns and the exact errors encountered.

I tried burning to DVD-R on a Windows 7 computer, right clicked on ISO, used burn ISO image to DVD option, that failed.
Copied ISO onto OS/X Snow Leopard, tried using Finder to burn, to DVD-R, that too said image too large for media.

Have you checked the md5sum or sha1sum of the downloaded ISO file?

I burned mine on OSX Snow Leopard using disk utility and it worked fine. I think finder burns it as a file, not as an ISO image therefore it reports the file it;s too big.
