Which process Xgrabkeyboard XGrabPointer?

Post by simpfeld » 2011/08/07 19:00:34

We occasionally have an issue on all Centos versions to be honest (but hoping might be more likely to be resolvable in the latest Centos). It's basically some program will grab XGrabKeyboard or/and XGrabPointer and the display will lock up. I assume this is what is happening as the mouse still moves but I can't click anything and all windows ignore either mouse or keyboard events.

Is there a way to discover from a virtual console or a remote SSH which process holds these and just kill that process, rather than have to kill the whole session?

I can't necessarily blame a shipped program as we develop our own software too.

So far semi randomly killing GUI processes usually damages the session enough that a restart is required. It would be nice to be more targeted.

Thanks
