[RESOLVED] mirrorlist.centos.org is broken

Post by 105547111 » 2014/04/18 20:44:04

It's pinging.. But try a yum update or calling it up in Firefox...

Test mode - must specify ip/cc, arch and repo as parameters

Works fine here, and the "test mode" output you got is what it's supposed to output in this case.

What actually happens when you try running "yum update"? Please provide full yum output.

# yum update
Loaded plugins: dellsysid, fastestmirror, presto, priorities, refresh-
: packagekit, security
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
Error: Cannot find a valid baseurl for repo: base

I had to uncomment in the centos.repo file:

baseurl=http://mirror.centos.org/centos/$releas ... $basearch/

Now it works. I also saw invalid arch when I try to wget or curl the mirrorurl

http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=$ ... ch&repo=os
and I even tried
http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6 ... 64&repo=os

OK, looks like the IPv6 mirrorlist is having problems. I did not initially check that, because the "Test mode - must specify ip/cc, arch and repo as parameters" is specific to the IPv4 mirrorlist server. I have alerted the appropriate person to have this fixed. Thanks for the report.

The problem with the IPv6 mirrorlist has now been fixed. You can revert to the original repository configuration.

There is now a check in place so that if this happens again, the appropriate persons are notified automatically.

Ah!! I never thought to check it was over ipv6 as yes both my centos 6 servers have full ipv6 connectivity.

Thanks for the track down and the fix, it's back to stock repo files and all is great.

Thanks again, have a great weekend!
