[SOLVED] wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
[SOLVED] wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
Hi guys
We are using ipv6.
And are always redirected towards US mirrors.
If i do
wget http://mirrorlist.centos.org/?release=6 ... fra=x86_64
the list shows all US mirrorservers.
However we are located in Belgium.
Our ipv6 range is a half year old.
Geoiplookup6 with the latest database works well.

Re: wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
I believe the IPv6 mirrorlist uses the MaxMind database for country lookups. Does https://www.maxmind.com/en/geoip-demo give you the correct country?
Re: wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
Yes it does.
Maybe the mirrorlist geo database is out of date...

Re: wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
Could you post your ipv6 address (or PM it to me or avij if you don't want it listed publicly).
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
So, I just tested from a simple Belgacom (home VDSL2) connection, with native ipv6 (so not using my he.net tunnelbroker anymore) and I'm correctly redirected to mirrors in .be (basically belnet.be)
As said, it would be good to know your ipv6 address/range

Re: wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
I've send you all a pm with our ipv6 address.
Our ipv4 range is the same age, 6 months old, and is receiving the correct list (Belgium mirrors)
In the beginning, when both ranges where justly announced, I thought, maybe because the ranges are quite new it could take some time.
But we are a half year further now....
Which is the reason of my post.

Re: wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
Hi
Is there any update yet?
I am sure we are not the only one having this problem.
This could potentially cause slow download speeds for many users.
The geoip database probably needs updates.
Kind regards.

Re: wrong mirrorlist centos ipv6
the guy administering that mirrorlist ipv6 node has been contacted for this, and task is assigned to him.
Hope to be giving news soon.
Also, forums is surely not the best place to post such issue, but rather https://bugs.centos.org
