Leap second question
Leap second question
So I received an email from a company whose application we run, regarding the leap second for tomorrow night (June 30th 2015). In it, they recommend that we ensure we are running their product on kernel version 3.4 or higher, but that would require upgrading to 7.x, can't I just make sure all systems (Centos 6.x) are properly updated or is Centos 6 still vulnerable?
Re: Leap second question
Vulnerable? Why?
There was an update to the tzdata package earlier this year that included the leap-second.

Re: Leap second question
As long as you are running a recent kernel and the latest tzdata package, the information that I have is that everything will be fine. That doesn't mean that there aren't unknown bugs out there waiting to be found...
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
