Hi All,
I have a strange problem. I have remote server with Centos 6.6 installed. I can use my iDrac to access
it and when I try to use the Dell virtual console, I can use my keyboard (bios setup, etc..) up until centos
boots. At the login screen, I can't seem to use the keyboard any more. When I set it up initially, it seemed
to all work fine. I can also start the installation process by using a virtual cd. I seems to me the centos is
doing something after it boot's that prevent me from using the virtual console.
Any help would be great, I'm lost at this point..
Sid

Re: Centos 6.6 problems with Dell IDrac6 virutal console
Check your iDRAC firmware level. I had the same problem on mine until I updated it from the ~2009 level firmware that it was handed to me with to the latest that I could find. Just checked and mine is now 1.98 (Build 08). Mine is on an R610 but I don't think it makes any difference, it's the iDRAC model that counts.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: CentOS 6.6 problems with Dell IDrac6 virtual console
Hi,
I had already updated my box to the latest firmaware (1.98). New information. I can force the boot via GRUB
(i can still use the keyboard) to single user mode. Once it boots, the keyboard stops working! Very strange.

The iDrac virtual console uses the USB to pass along keyboard and mouse events.
I had turned them off on the kernel command line for security reasons.
