Its pretty old hardware . I purchased the desktop in 2005. Pentium 4 2.66GHz, upgraded to 2GB ram. Out of 4, 2 ram slots seem to be spoilt too.

Those two are your disk controllers and running grep -i 8086 /lib/modules/2.6.32-642.15.1.el6.x86_64/modules.* | grep -i -E "266f|2651" shows that both are supported by the ata_piix module. I checked your llsinitrd output and it does contain ata_piix so I do not know why it doesn't work. I suspect you need to scroll backwards through the kernel messages on a failed boot to find any error messages that are issue. Use Shift-PgUp to do that on the console.
