System Hangs after Upgrade
System Hangs after Upgrade
On my new workstation (intel i7 processor, 512GB-SSD, nvidia GeForce GTX730), I installed CentOS_6.9. Everything proceeded smoothly as I chose "Desktop". I performed "Software Updates", wherein there was a kernel update too. After the updates were completed, I performed the reboot but the system hanged and I could not login. The following were the custom partition layout created by me; /boot = 1 GB; /swap = 8 GB; / = 50 GB; /home = 'rest of the size'. Please suggest the remedy. Thank you.
Re: System Hangs after Upgrade
How does it "hang"? Did you try booting in runlevel 3?
Why CentOS 6 and not 7 on a new machine?
Why CentOS 6 and not 7 on a new machine?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: System Hangs after Upgrade
I thank you for your mail. (1). I did not attempt to boot at "runlevel 3". I will give a try; (2). Some of the 3rd party software programs, as mentioned by the suppliers, have not been tested on CentOS 7 and hence, I am sticking to CentOS 6.
Re: System Hangs after Upgrade
I just attempted "runlevel 3" reboot and it is working fine as I could login as "root" and see the contents.
