The current CentOS 6 is 6.9 and is on all the mirrors. It is the one to use. If you have a fixed requirement for a specific minor release then you need to review why you need it. 6.9 came out in March and is the only supported release that gets maintenance patches. If you install 6.8 and then run yum update you will be on 6.9 anyway so why not just cut out the middleman and start with 6.9 to begin with?

To stay on 6.8 means you will no longer be receiving current security updates. Do not do this.

If you absolutely must have 6.8 despite all those warnings then you can find it on vault.centos.org where old releases go to die.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
