Intel Atom processor

Post by bigbiggreydog » 2017/06/26 14:53:33

I am trying to install a CentOS 6.9 ISO image on a UDOO x86 project computer which has an Intel Atom processor. I can install the image onto a flash but upon reboot, it goes into the shell. When I exit, it goes into the BIOS screen. If I install CentOS 7 or the newest Ubuntu, it installs and runs properly.

Is there something with 6.9 that is incompatible with the Atom processor or the rest of this project computer?

What sort of "shell"? Grub? Or bash?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Pretty sure CentOS 6's UEFI support is minimal to non-existent. Can you put it in legacy BIOS mode?
