weather widget?

Post by wsdickerson » 2017/07/18 18:13:01

What weather widget is available for CentOS 6? Yum doesn't find gnome-weather or mate. Yum search weather only finds libgweather, etc.

Thanks

Try yum install gnome-applets - you'll need to restart the panel afterwards to pick up the newly installed ones I think. It contains /usr/lib64/bonobo/servers/GNOME_GWeatherApplet_Factory.server
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Thanks. It was already installed. I had done "locate weather" but didn't use -i.

I added the applet to gnome-panel and set the location. I was looking for a larger widget which would display graphics. This just shows "--" (it's not updating but I'll worry about that later).

How can I get a weather widget that shows graphics? Do I have to use to use the gnome shell extension?

Does the weather applet not work?

I know that it was broken for a while due to changes made on the data provider end of things but I thought it was fixed now. I can't test it as I don't have an el6 system left with a GUI. Works on el7...
