CentOS-6.5 livecd does not boot in UEFI Mode
CentOS-6.5 livecd does not boot in UEFI Mode
CentOS 6.5 live CD ISO downloaded from http://archive.kernel.org/centos-vault/ ... LiveCD.iso fails to boot in UEFI mode. When we set the BIOS mode to legacy livecd ISO is booting successfully. Does the CentOS livecd's work only in BIOS legacy mode?
Re: CentOS-6.5 livecd does not boot in UEFI Mode
From the 6.9 Release Notes: UEFI on CentOS-6.9: None of the i386 (32 bit) CentOS-6.9 ISOs will work with UEFI. All the x86_64 CentOS-6.9 ISOs (except LiveDVD) should boot and work with UEFI. No versions of CentOS 6 will work with Secure Boot turned on. Secure Boot must be disabled to install CentOS 6. (For further detail please take a look at CentOS Bug #6321).

Don't use 6.5 in any case, it's old and deprecated and riddled with security bugs.
UEFI support in 6 is patchy at best. CentOS 7 has better UEFI support.

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: CentOS-6.5 livecd does not boot in UEFI Mode
Can you please confirm whether any CentOS 6.x LiveCD is supported in UEFI Mode. In The CentOS 6.5 release notes its given as "The full x86_64 install and the minimal ISO are bootable on EFI-hardware (For further detail please take a look at CentOS Bug #0006321)." But I did not find anything related to LiveCD.
Re: CentOS-6.5 livecd does not boot in UEFI Mode
As far as I know, none of the live media works in UEFI mode.
Why are you using it instead of the real install media?

Re: CentOS-6.5 livecd does not boot in UEFI Mode
We need to run diagnostics on our PCI adapter through one of our application build in CentOS 6.5 OS without actually installing the CentOS 6.5 OS in the HD. So we are binding our application in the CentOS 6.5 LiveCD ISO and running our application to meet the purpose.
Re: CentOS-6.5 livecd does not boot in UEFI Mode
I cannot say it strongly enough: do not use 6.5.
