recently i have downloaded centos iso 64 bit i can dvd1 and dvd2 what is the need to two iso files

Because there's too much data to fit on one ordinary DVD.
The split is done with an attempt to make sure that all the most frequently used packages are on DVD1 so most people do not need DVD2 at all.

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
