VNC Not responding CentOS6.9

Post by cleetusantony » 2017/11/29 13:29:34

Hello All,

I have installed CentOS 6.9 and installed and configured VNC. But for some reason, VNC Viewer says no response from server.
Here is the log file I am attaching.
Please have a look and guide me.

Thanks
Cleetus

You would have to open the relevant port in iptables if you are connecting directly. But from a security standpoint it would be better to tunnel VNC over an ssh connection.

Hi Steve,
I have followed this below link and done accordingly. In that I have allowed ports in iptables as well.

Any idea ?

Thank you Stev

Fixed it.
Issue was with the ports.

It's still better and more secure to tunnel it over ssh and not open ports to the internet.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
