Hello everyone,
My problem is that I can't assign a disk to a newly created volume group. Reason? The physical disk is already in a volume group called "VolGroup". Also, I can't remove this device from "VolGroup" cause "Physical volume is still in use". It's not - it's just attached as a virtual disk to a virtual machine but it wasn't used by me. Why is this default "VolGroup" creating themselves?
What can I do in this case ? I've lost already one VM due to fstab mess that I've done trying to solve this.
All ideas are welcome.
Thanks.

Re: Can't assign physcial disk to new volume group
Was this "disk" previously in use on a different VM? It sounds like it.
Post the output from the following commands, all run as root:
pvs
vgs
lvs
fdisk -lu /dev/sdX (where sdX is the device you're having trouble with).

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
