Centos 6.9 VM sometimes stuck on Checking filesystems

Post by logtech » 2018/06/06 13:05:55

Then I keep pressing either space or enter or esc and this speed up the "Checking filesystems" but if I don't do anything it stuck for a long time

its annoying since it happens on a lot of VM's - any known bug or issue ?

I think that 180 days is the default period for checking file systems.
So if you reboot and it's gone more than 180 days since the last check, then it will by default run a check.

Pressing keys does nothing to speed up fsck, the only thing it might do is to get it to issue a status update.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
