CentOS 6 Slooooow

Hi All,
Noobie question, just installed CentOS6 and the speed is very slow.
My brief hardware configuration:-
- Intel® Core™ i7-7740X Quad Core (4.30GHz @ up to 5.0GHz)
- 32GB Ram
- 1st M.2 SSD Drive 1TB SAMSUNG SM961 M.2, PCIe NVMe (up to 3200MB/R, 1800MB/W)
- 1st Hard Disk 1TB WD Blue™ 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 545MB/sR | 525MB/sW)
- 2nd Hard Disk 2TB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 3.5" SSHD - UP TO 5X FASTER THAN HDD!
- 3rd Hard Disk 2TB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 3.5" SSHD - UP TO 5X FASTER THAN HDD! - this is where the CentOS 6 is installed
CentOS typically takes about a minute to boot up then processes take a long time. This may be ok. However, other processes seem to take longer than expected. Browser access 10 seconds plus (i have tried many sites that usually have a fast response time). I accept that response time is a very subjective thing but I am comparing my experience with Windows 10 on the same hardware - there is no comparison (20 second boot up time, applications fire up within seconds, browser access to most sites almost instantaneous).
Any thoughts would be much appreciated - remember I am a noobie to CentOS (and Linux in general). BTW I accepted defaults were appropriate during the installation of CentOS 6.10 i.e. for the disk layout etc...
Thanks in advance,
