centos 6 AWS AMI: support for new "T3 and M5" machine type

Post by frank3427 » 2018/09/24 18:16:12

Hi All, Please could the Centos6 AWS AMI be updated to enable use on new T3 and M5 family of instances?

https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B ... duct_title

T3: https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/aws/new-t3 ... rformance/

... I don't mean Centos OS software support as such, just whomever admins the AMI, to tick the box for "T3 & M5". To enable launching a "T3& M5" machine using the AMI ;-)

thank you

Frank

I'm not sure it's possible. I saw something that said the newer instances were not compatible with CentOS 6 as it doesn't have a new enough kernel to support e.g. the ena adapter.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
