Post by Naveenmj » 2018/10/11 15:38:08

Hi All,
I have to update new stable kernel "2.6.32.754" in our RHEL6. Can any one guide how to get the particular kernel version source code or RPMs ?

Thanks,
Naveen

To update anything in RHEL requires a valid working RHEL subscription. Do you have one? If not then you first need to renew yours to get access to the repos and then you can yum update.

And CentOS is not RHEL. It's built from the same sources as RHEL but with all RH branding and logos removed. It also lacks the subscription stuff that requires you to pay to update. But you cannot update a RHEL system from CentOS packages as the GPG keys etc will be different. You might be able to use our wiki article on migration to convert your RHEL system to a CentOS one but it's at your own risk and you will lose whatever support you might have got from RH.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
