I filed a bug report on the RHEL 6 beta for that issue. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=590946
Is there even a hibernate or suspend option on the shut down menu? During the beta there wasn't one for me, and I believe they were to include the fix in 6.1 but not in 6.0. I don't have 6.0 installed, I''m waiting for 6.1.
Are you using LVM or non-LVM? I'm not sure if that would make a difference or not, I wasn't / don't use LVM.

What does /sys/power/state contain on this machine?
