Welcome to the CentOS fora. Please see the recommended reading for new users linked in my signature. User Comments is the wrong place for your post. Moving it to CentOS 6 General Support.

Please provide more information about your system by running "./getinfo.sh driver" and showing us the output file.

No driver found in the CentOS-6 kernel. :-(

From this thread it appears there is an experimental driver available but it is not in current kernels. It does appear to work on openSUSE.

It might be made available in CentOSplus kernels - don't have one installed to check right now. It is also possible that a new EL6 kernel-ml from ELRepo will address the issue if/when it becomes available. You could also file a RFE at ELRepo to see if a kmod driver can be provided for EL6. If you do, please reference this thread.

You are not alone. Have just been reading EL6 USB 3 posts on the SL mailing list.

[CENTOS6] usb 3 controller NEC not use

Post by kbocek » 2011/07/19 14:11:06

The driver for this NEC USB card is xhci_hcd. The issue I'm having is that the driver does not automatically load and the hard drive I'm trying to use with it will disappear after five to ten minutes. I've got a question open over in the hardware forum.
