Centos 5.6 to 6
Centos 5.6 to 6
Is it possible to upgrade server from centos 5.6 to version 6?
Re: Centos 5.6 to 6
I've done it, you need to use "linux upgradeany" at the grub boot on the installer. Seems to work more reliably with the full installer DVD vs the Netinstaller. You need to be prepared to do some manual dependency fixing after the installation finshes and may need to fix the boot loader with the rescue mode.

This looks like to me, that new installation is quicker than upgrading.

How did you handle the centos-release epoch issue?

An upgrade will always leave a lot of cruft behind, and a fresh install is always the only recommended and supported option. Nevertheless, many people will still want to upgrade, so there is general interest in how to do it.
