iSCSI TGTd and Hyper-V cluster problem

Post by BusterPL » 2018/11/11 18:52:40

Hi everyone,
I hope, that You help me. I have server with external matrix, trough SATA connect. There is CentOS 6, with iSCSI TGTd daemon on the server.
I wanted to use it as a disk for the Hyper-V cluster. Disk was connected via iscsi. When I try validate, receive errors about VPD 0x83 page. How can I fix it? Version of iSCSI TGTd is: 1.0.24. Please help. :)

Yeah kind of confusing (but perhaps English is not your first language?)
Seemingly, you wish to use HyoerV (ugh), to connect to an iSCSI store, which works????
You query seems to be about the sg_vpd (VritualProductData) that indicates the identity of the device????
What do you *really* want?
Is this something like sharing data across simple nodes????
More information required.

I will try to explain it, but as you've rightly noticed, English is not my primary language.
I have a server and a disk array connected to it via a SATA cable. CentOS 6 with iSCSI software is installed on the server. This software is TGT version, as I wrote earlier. 1.0.24.
I connected this matrix to the Hyper-V cluster via iSCSI.
Everything looks good. Cluster servers see the disk, but when I try to migrate virtual machines between cluster servers, I get an error. When I try to check the disk with a tool to check individual cluster members, I get an error saying:

Physical disk {3a147431-a5de-484c-90d1-2eff04f1393b} does not have the inquiry (SCSI page 83h VPD descriptor) that is required by failover clustering.

However, in tables with data about drives in servers, in the column entitled: VPD Page 83h Identifier, with this disk I have <Unknown>

I tried to find any information about the TGT configuration in this matter, but with no result.

Where can the error be?

Well (and from memory) SCSI targets need to be "marked" as shareable.

The problem most likely rests in the MPIO (multi-path I/O - even if there is 1 path). I'm no Hyer-V expert, but think that's where the problem will lie. Perhaps google around that?
