[SOLVED] Looking for Libre-Cad
[SOLVED] Looking for Libre-Cad
Can anyone point me to where I can find the open source technical drawing program Libre-CAD please. I am running CentOS 6 on an i686 machine.

Re: Looking for Libre-Cad
As far as I can see, there is no package built for CentOS/RHEL. Building from source might be possible, but I doubt it. From what I saw, it seems to require certain libraries newer than those available in EL 6. If I have to install this software, I'd probably use Fedora.

Okay toracat. Thank you.
Fedora will mean a dual boot which seems a lot of work for one package and extremely inconvenient for everyday working. I do not know of a comparable open source package though.

Re: [Solved?] Looking for Libre-Cad
Librecad offers rpms for el6 on their download site.
Re: [Solved?] Looking for Libre-Cad
Thank you for that, chemal. Unfortunately a i686 rpm is not available.

toracat advises that LibreCAD
Does this apply to the download that you have kindly sourced for me?.... seems to require certain libraries newer than those available in EL 6.
Re: [Solved?] Looking for Libre-Cad
I think you should go ahead and give those packages a try. When I looked, I could not find those built for RHEL/CentOS-6. But if they are now offered, there is some (good) chance that they indeed work.

Re: [Solved?] Looking for Libre-Cad
This is uncharted ground for me. Have I tried to install the wrong file? If so, can I 'go back', and, which is the correct file please.# rpm -i librecad-2.0.0rc1.git20130625-2.1.i686.rpm
warning: librecad-2.0.0rc1.git20130625-2.1.i686.rpm: Header V3 DSA/SHA1 Signature, key ID faf7292e: NOKEY
error: Failed dependencies:

Re: [Solved?] Looking for Libre-Cad
The install didn't work. Try using yum install /path/to/the.rpm instead as that will pull in dependencies for you.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
