Ok, I have been searching all over the Google's for the answer and can't find anything that works. In CentOS 6, I would like to change the login background to match my background that I use in my desktop. Has anyone figured out how to do this? I am at a loss. Its not vital, just a little aggrevating. Thanks in advance for your help

System, Preferences, Appearance, Background, Select Image, Click Make Default, Authenticate as root, done!

Appears to update this file: /etc/gconf/gconf.xml.system/%gconf-tree.xml

Hi,
This is the default background path. /usr/share/backgrounds/default.png
MV the default.png to another filenamne before you proceed.
Then just replace the default.png with another picture and rename it to default.png in the same path /usr/share/backgrounds/

@keithwright This is NOT what the original poster was asking, lazer66's solution was correct.
