I have just done an update of Centos 6 with the new newly released CR repo. After reboot when I expected to see the KDE login screen I got a blank black screen.
I reset, logged in as single user and tried "setup" but the only options I get are authentication, firewall, keyboard, network and system, nothing for X. I tried system-config-display & /sbin/system-config-display and got command not found.
Startx from the command line gives the same black screen. I had no X related issues before updating.
Any ideas?
No GUI after update
Re: No GUI after update
-- SOLVED --
After considerable time in single user mode trying various things including yum downgrades I decided to try reinstalling the ATI drivers and it is now working again.
Past kernel updates have caused problems that required a driver reinstall but I didn't immediately think of this because they have only ever been minor issues with the resolution. It has never crippled the system before.

Might want to look at the ELrepo repository drivers...

Available Packages
kmod-fglrx.i686 11.8-1.el6.elrepo elrepo
