Just for reference for anyone else stumbling over this thread when looking for simple-scan, I have now moved the simple-scan rpm to the 'release' repo and also made a 32 bit rpm:
32 bit (i686): http://pkgrepo.linuxtech.net/el6/release/i686/simple-scan-2.32.0.2-1.el6.i686.rpm
64 bit (x86_64): http://pkgrepo.linuxtech.net/el6/release/x86_64/simple-scan-2.32.0.2-1.el6.x86_64.rpm
source rpm: http://pkgrepo.linuxtech.net/el6/release/source/simple-scan-2.32.0.2-1.el6.src.rpm
spec-file: http://pkgrepo.linuxtech.net/el6/release/spec-files/simple-scan.spec
