[Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 7 - "couldn't connect to host"

Post by cntsuser0011 » 2015/10/04 01:09:02

Hi. It's been days since I installed centos on my laptop. I'm having a lot of difficulties. I can't install utorrent, libreoffice, and other apps that I need. Because of errors like this:

Code: Select all

http://dl.atrpms.net/el6-x86_64/atrpms/stable/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 14] PYCURL ERROR 7 - "couldn't connect to host"
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: atrpms. Please verify its path and try again
Question: Why does this happen? Please explain it to me and help me install Libreoffice. Thank you.

That's an error caused by the inaccessability of the website for one of your third party yum repositories - atrpms. That repo is very unreliable and this is the third or fourth time this year that it's just disappeared off the face of the planet. My advice, find a better repo for whatever it was that you added it for - nux-dextop is way better and also has backup mirrors to stop things like this from happening.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
