Rpmforge should be considered dead. It's not had any updates for more than 4 years and the packages it does contain are increasingly risky to use as security vulnerabilities are discovered but not fixed in the rpmforge copies. You should not use it. Find alternative sources for the things you want. Consult http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories for a list of the repos that are considered reliable and up to date.

Oh, and it probably didn't work for you because you installed the el7 rpmforge-release on an el6 system and that would never work.

You should yum remove rpmforge-release to get shot of it.

What were you looking for in particular?

Hello TrevorH,

First, Thank you for your answer and help. I am a basic user of CentOS and I would like to make a new proxy Server with CentOS. A new because I maked one about 2 years ago what proxy Server is running well. So I wanted to make a new but I cuold do it The Same as The old because I could not install rpmforge as I wrote.

So if I undestood well your answer The old repo is dead.

Do you suggest to use CentOS 7? Or Is other linux version better for proxy Server?

What is your opinion?

(Sorry for my English)

What packages do you need to do so that were in rpmforge? The usual thing to use as a proxy server is squid and that's in the CentOS base repo on both CentOS 6 and 7.

You can find squid in the CentOS supplied repos. I don't see dansguardian anywhere.

I cannot say it strongly enough, do not use rpmforge. It's a security risk as it supplies packages that could contain unpatched vulnerabilities.
