CentOS 6 - kernel 2.6.32 - Thin pool volumes cannot be reduced in size yet.

Hello,

on CentOS 6.9 64bit, kernel 2.6.32-042stab123.9

# lvreduce --size 45G /dev/vg/thin_pool

Code: Select all

Thin pool volumes cannot be reduced in size yet.
Run `lvreduce --help' for more information.
Please if/when is expected the thin pool volumes will be able to be decreased in size and is there any workaround in the meantime to decrease the size without data loss and preferably without moving all the data away? Thank you

update: same questions posted to openvz forum here

That's not a CentOS system nor a CentOS kernel. That's an openvz container (see the "stab" in the kernel version). You need to ask your hoster/provider.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
