Seamonkey 2.48

Post by khentiamentiu » 2017/08/04 17:16:33

I've been trying to install seamonkey 2.48 on CentOS 6.9. So far, there appear to be too many missing dependencies to make installation worth the time. Note that I don't have the freedom to upgrade my system to CentOS 7. So, has anyone successfully installed Seamonkey 2.48 on CentOS 6? Thanks!

The EPEL testing repo for both CentOS 6 and 7 contains seamonkey 2.48

Code: Select all

[root@c6test ~]# yum list --noplugins --enablerepo=epel-testing --showdupli list seamonkey\*
Available Packages
seamonkey.x86_64 2.46-1.el6 epel
seamonkey.x86_64 2.48-1.el6 epel-testing
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Worked like a charm. Now to disable that repo again so that the auditing software doesn't get on my case. Thanks!
[root@c6test ~]# yum list --noplugins --enablerepo=epel-testing --showdupli list seamonkey\*
Available Packages
seamonkey.x86_64 2.46-1.el6 epel
seamonkey.x86_64 2.48-1.el6 epel-testing]

That command enabled it only for the duration of the command.
