Re: virtual server crashes every sunday morning

All those messages are from Sept 7th. Either you've taken a very long time to post this or your computer date is set wildly incorrect or you're looking at the wrong file.

Also, 2.6.32-431.23.3.el6.x86_64 is not a CentOS 6.9 kernel, it comes from 6.5.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Hi, i had problem copying the output from the log so a friend who had the same exact issue sent me his output (exactly the same output i double-checked). anyway it shouldnt be in your concern.

as for the kernel version, both lsb_release and /etc/redhat-release show version 6.9

What is the output of

Code: Select all

uname -a
on your own machine, not your friend's?

Please don't conflate two separate issues. You have no idea if your other machine has the same problem as this one or just one with similar symptoms. Provide debug output for one problem at a time.

So you are running a very old kernel with many known bugs and severe security issues. Your first move would be to run "yum update" (and reboot) to get current. If that doesn't update your kernel (and any other backlevel packages) you need to investigate why.

All those weird looking messages from Feb 18 03:04 until the reboot, they look very much like the sort of thing you get out of the OOM killer though the rest of the info is missing. Is that what those are or something different? And by the looks of it you have several hundred cron jobs running audit.sh.
