CENTOS 6.6 -64BIT DESKTOP DOES NOT RECOGNISE MORE THAN 32 GB

Post by SAT2015 » 2015/04/06 13:48:23

I'm using centos 6.6 64 bit and I have 3 new server from DELL -SERVER 430
Intel® C610 series chipset
http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/poweredge-r430/pd
With 2 Intel XEON 2630 v3 CPU with 8 cores and 16 thread each so total 16 cores and 32 thread .
64 gb of memory DDR 4
DDR4 DIMMs at up to 2133MT/s
its 2 pcs of 32gb each .
2 X HDD SAAS - 300GB X 2 RED 1.

I have 2 intel xeon 2630 v3 installed in this server number 1
The server has 64GB, DDR4 and in the BIOS i see 64GB- but in CENTOS 6.6 64 BIT DESKTOP its using only 32GB.

http://www.dell.com/us/business/p/poweredge-r430/pd

server number 2
The second server i have 64gb ddr3 memory and i also dont see 64gb i get 64gb in the bios and in centos 6.6 i get 32 gb
server number 3
i installed on another Windows server just to check and i get 64gb .
but not on the centos 6.6 -64bit.
i still get 32gb of memory on centos 6.6
then i read this
https://access.redhat.com/articles/rhel-limits
is there any limit of memory on centos 6.6-64 bit?
Dual processor boards require both processor slots to be populated before it use the memory that belongs to that socket.
I have the memory configuration ok and i see it in the BIOS POST messages .
if i see in windows server i must see it in centos 6.6 -64 bit desktop
i also change the configuration on the memory and changed the slot but still nothing.
it still show 64gb on the bios and 32 gb on centos 6.6 64 bit desktop.
in ubunto it shows 64gb no problem .
Dell dont have any answer for me .
i need to use the 6.6 -64 with a special software and i need 64gb or 128 gb memory minimum .
the software can not work on centos 7 or on ubuntu or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Thanks

i don't see why it would be different in Ubuntu & windows vs centos,

starter for 10 - have you checked the system bios is up to date?

http://poweredgec.com/latest_poweredge- ... 430%20BIOS

1.0.2 is current for the R430

Thank you for your reply
We checked the bios with dell .
For dell if its 64GB in the bios we should see it in the centos 6.6 or 7.
There is no problem with ubunto it work well.
it shows 64gb.
DELL said that its centos 6.6 problem .
because all the hardware is from DELL .
Its all new checked and tested by dell engineers.
normally we put 128gb of
we did not solved the problem yet.
if someone can help .
Thanks ahead

Please post the output from uname -a and from dmidecode -t 17
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
