hi,
has anyone tried to get HW acceleration to work in CentOS 6.7? The vesa driver works, OpenGL as well by mesa but i could not get the "intel" driver to work, even with the i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 boot parameter added.
I suppose it would be possible to build the newest xorg-x11-drv-intel but the question is whether the i915 kernel module can be built with the CentOS 6.7 kernel version.
thx,
Pete

Do you find a solution? , i just bought a PC with a core i3 6100 and i´m having a bad time to get it work (on Centos 7 and Centos 6)
On CentOS 6, i get to work with the i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 line at grub, and i get basic video on GNome both cant get the dual monitors to work neither higher resolution than 1024x768.
On Centos 7, works way better with i915.preliminary_hw_support=1 i get dual monitor support and more stable scenario, but i have 2 serious problems, i just dont like Gnome 3 and the lack of Wine 32 bits support just kills me i use this everyday for an app to control my routers...
Please share if you find any solution!! i dont want to end up installing Ubuntu or similar or worse, having to buy a GPU to solve this.
Thanks

If you prefer Gnome 2 you can install the Mate desktop from EPEL, which is a fork of Gnome 2.
Somewhere on this forum somebody posted a recipe for installing 32-bit Wine some time ago (the search function appears to be non-functional right now so I can't point you at it unfortunately.)
