Dell 1250c

Post by heureka » 2016/02/21 16:41:16

Hello.
This forum is sth like my last hope.
I'm not a complete newby to Linux as I'm working with it since some years now.
But I have problems with my Centos 6.7 on an older PC to recognize my Dell Laser printer.
I installed firms driver, the foomatic driver also, but nothing helps.
When I connect any printer like a Brother, cups purpose me this device as an USB-device. Unfortunately this doesn't work with the Dell 1250c. When I connect it, nothing goes on, there is no device selection possible. CUPS does not regognize the printer.

I searched a lot across the internet, but can't find some pertinent informations about that issue.

That printer is an HBPLv1 printer i.e. it is not supported by the foo2hpbl program that only works with HBPLv2 printers. There is a modified version that should work:

http://cybercom.net/~dcoffin/hbpl/

I've only used the foo2hpbl driver so I can't vouch for this modified version, but the driver it's based on (from http://foo2hbpl.rkkda.com/) I have used and it works very well in a variety of linux environments.
