Problem installing catalyst

Post by Blisk » 2016/07/06 11:21:14

I hava no problems to install catalyst driver to my centos 6.7 - 64
And everytime kernel changes I need to install it again. But no I can't do that anymore and don't know why.
I get this error.

Uncompressing AMD Catalyst(TM) Proprietary Driver-13.251.

error: Detected X Server version 'XServer 1.17.4_64a' is not supported. Supported versions are X.Org 6.9 or later, up to XServer 1.10 (default:v2:x86_64:lib:XServer 1.17.4_64a:none:2.6.32-642.el6.x86_64:)
Installation will not proceed.

Removing temporary directory: fglrx-install.mMG8x2

Try using the ELRepo kmod-fglrx packages from elrepo-testing. Then you won't need to rebuild after every kernel update anyway.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
