Re: CentOS 6 Cd Tray keeps opening
I'd try swapping the hardware. May be a defective drive.
Re: CentOS 6 Cd Tray keeps opening
Well, against my better judgement, and the fact that I don't have another cd drive to test the bad hardware theory, I reinstalled CentOS 6, only to have the same thing happen. So, I am guessing that it is most likely a faulty hardware issue as pschaff suggests. I am gonna try one other option to see if maybe it is a driver?? Thanks for all the great ideas though.

You'd be looking for a cron job that runs 'eject -T' at random times. :-)

Re: CentOS 6 Cd Tray keeps opening
It could also be someone with remote access to the system.
Re: CentOS 6 Cd Tray keeps opening
If it's hardware, which sounds likely, it should even behave like that being just powered on, without the OS loaded; i.e. intercept the boot in the grub menu and leave it there.
Re: CentOS 6 Cd Tray keeps opening
I've got this exact same issue. Not tracked down the root cause yet and no, it is not anyone with remote access to the system as it's a test box on an isolated vlan.
