kernel 2.6.32-523.el6, is this a typo?

If you have a CentOS 6.7 kernel, your device [14e4:4365] is supported by the bcma driver. Does 'lsmod' show this module?

Confirming, for toracat, that the Vendor:Device ID pairing does indeed point to the bcma module in the distribution kernel and "future" kernels --

Code: Select all

[Duo2 ~]$ grep -i 14e4 /lib/modules/*/modules.alias | grep -i 4365
/lib/modules/2.6.32-573.7.1.el6.x86_64/modules.alias:alias pci:v000014E4d00004365sv*sd*bc*sc*i* bcma
/lib/modules/3.18.22-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64/modules.alias:alias pci:v000014E4d00004365sv*sd*bc*sc*i* bcma
/lib/modules/4.1.10-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64/modules.alias:alias pci:v000014E4d00004365sv*sd*bc*sc*i* bcma
/lib/modules/4.2.3-1.el6.elrepo.x86_64/modules.alias:alias pci:v000014E4d00004365sv*sd*bc*sc*i* bcma
/lib/modules/4.3.0-0.rc4.el6.elrepo.x86_64/modules.alias:alias pci:v000014E4d00004365sv*sd*bc*sc*i* bcma
[Duo2 ~]$
abdossamad2003 -- Please try the following:
  • dmesg | tail -n 10
  • modprobe bcma
  • dmesg | tail -n 10
We really need to see what messages are logged in the kernel ring-buffer as a result of attempting to modprobe the bcma module.

Thanks, Gerald. For some reason I completely missed its presence.

So perhaps the OP would try the following:
  • dmesg | tail -n 10
  • modprobe -r bcma
  • dmesg | tail -n 10
  • modprobe bcma
  • dmesg | tail -n 10
and post the entire response to the above five command lines.

Please run ifconfig -a and post the output
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
