Music Streaming
Music Streaming
First off i would like to say that even though i have been playing around with Centos for about a year now I'm pretty new. What i am trying to do is host my music on my preexisting Apache web server and i would like to setup an interface that will look into the folder that my music is stored in and allow me to choose songs and/or albums i would like to play and have the ability to have contentious play. I've been looking around and most of the stuff i'm seeing it "web radio" and i do not want that. I only want my music.

Re: Music Streaming
Why not just upload it all to Google Play Music? Then it's available everywhere with clients available for everything.
If you really want to do it yourself this http://beets.radbox.org/ is probably usable on CentOS, as it's written in python.
Google will show you several similar bits of software. Disclaimer: I haven't used any of them.

Re: Music Streaming
This is not a CentOS networking issue.
What you need is a dlna server server and dlna compatible music players.
Another option would be squeezebox server and compatible players.
CentOS does not supply these.

Re: Music Streaming
I apologize for posting in the wrong place and i understand CentOS doesn't supply what I am asking for but I figured "go to the place where people whose the same thing i'm using congregate" ya know. With that being said I'll take a look at squeezebox and has anyone heard of or used "icecast" or "shoutcast" on CentOS?gerald_clark wrote:This is not a CentOS networking issue.

Re: Music Streaming
Ok I'm not looking for another appliance nor an account with Google play music when i have my very own server to play with and i know for a fact CentOS with 3rd party software can support what I'm trying to do.
Anyway I think I'm going to use Icecast if anyone is interested in it I'll leave some links here:
How to set it up:
http://sachinpradeeplinux.wordpress.com ... os-server/
Official webpage:
http://www.icecast.org/
If anyone has any better ideas I'd be happy to hear them.
Thanks

See if MadSonic or SubSonic do what you need (the former a fork of the latter)
